Holiday Taxis eyes European expansion - Travel Weekly - 18 Aug 2004
Holiday Taxis has launched their 2004/2005 winter ski transfer rates featuring all the major European ski destinations in France, Italy, Switzerland and Austria.
Paul Stanyer, MD, commented: "Lasy year we featured a decent range of destinations and services, however we launched far too late to be able to gain a lot of interest from the trade and admittedly some of our rates were not too attractive. This year however we have spent a lot of time researching new partners and are launching in plenty of time for the forthcoming winter season. We have improved not only the number of destinations featured, but also have dramatically improved upon the rates offeredlast year. We feel we have an excellent portfolio of product at very reasonable prices to a comprehensive range of destinations."
Travel agents viewing the rates should be aware that the prices featured are bound to be more expensive than summer transfers because of the journey times involved and the risk of bad weather. However when the rates are divided amongst the number of passengers travelling, they are often very favourable. Ski clients in particular are happy to pay the difference for a private transfer in order to get to their resort as quickly as possible as it can mean the difference of an extra half days skiing.
Continued Paul: "With the growth of the low cost flying into ski gateways, especially Geneva and the emergence of accommodation only companies selling ski we believe there is massive opportunity for agents to be able to dynamically package ski holidays and include a private ski tranfer as part of the sale as clients are unlikely to consider car hire as an option. We are constantly reading about airlines and tour operators cutting commission - here is an oportunity for agents to start winning some back."
